On my old A21M Thinkpad laptop I have an Netgear FA410TX PCMCIA card
that is giving me fits. Noticing that Samba file transfers from one
machine to this one via the FA410 were very slow, I started searching in
the log files. The syslog and kernel (2.6.22.14-386) files are flooded with
eth1: interrupt(s) dropped!
messages. Here is a sample:
Jan 8 11:34:58 ubuntu kernel: [ 636.888000] eth1: interrupt(s) dropped!
Jan 8 11:35:06 ubuntu kernel: [ 644.888000] eth1: interrupt(s) dropped!

Jan 8 11:35:46 ubuntu kernel: [ 684.500000] eth1: interrupt(s) dropped!
Pinging google.com I was noticing anywhere from a 12-57% packet at times.
Supposedly kernel 2.6.23 has a fix for "NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0 transmit
timed out" - anyone experiencing similar problems and tried 2.6.23?
