I beg to differ - for many of us, this _is_ news (via gmane), and (a
potentially different) many of us, believe the rules should be the same. 
Top-posting in mail lists is no nicer than in news.  This isn't business
mail, where all prior email is treated as if it's stapled to the back of
your letter.
