Not entirely correct. Pine license permits distribution of unmodified
copies. Debian version of pine has modifications, so they cannot
distribute them. That´s why pine can only be distributed in debian in
source code.
If the OP wants pine, it just needs to enable source repositories and
issue the following commands
apt-get source pine
cd pine-4.??
dpkg-buildpackage
cd ..
