Totem

I am also new to ubuntu and wasn't able to get the
codecs I needed for totem to work, so I use the VLC
player instead. I don't remember if it's in the
synaptic package manager or not, but I think it was,
otherwise, get it from download.com.

Has worked on everything so far including iso and
vob's.
