Kernel modules: how to get some basic info about them ?

At work, when I've amended some assembler which has been supplied to
us, I make sure I stick in an eyecatcher with my userid in there
somewhere. Thus, if I'm ever looking at a dump and I see my
eyecatchers I know not to hassle the vendor with a tainted dump until
I've ascertained that none of my code it to blame.
I can be as simple as an few bytes in the datablock with "Trouillez"
in them... If you're then trying to see if a module has been modified
or compiled by you, grep the module for your surname and you're
golden...
