Desktop effects no workie

Hello.

I had Beryl working in 7.04, but "Desktop Effects" doesn't work in 7.10 on
the same machine.  I get the dreaded

"Desktop effects could not be enabled."

message.  There is no log message in /var/log/messages or /etc/X11/xorg.log.


I have a GeForce2 GTS and am using the nvidia driver.  Here are some
excerpts from my xorg.conf file:

Section "Module"
        Load            "glx"
        Load            "v4l"
EndSection


Section "Device"
        Identifier      "Failsafe Device"
        Boardname  "vesa"
        Busid           "PCI:1:0:0"
        Driver          "nvidia"
        Screen  0
        Option          "NoLogo"        "True"
        Option          "AllowGLXWithComposite" "True"
EndSection
