Error on reboot after setting up VNC

I am logged in at the terminal now. I did
sudo chown wadesmart:wadesmart /home/wadesmart/*
and was able to cd to /home, as I could not before.
I did ls -l wadesmart and it says on every folder under that:
total 0
?---------------------------? ? ? ? ? wadesmart/bin
Are ALL my permissions screwed?
