Connecting to L2TP

Next week I'm converting another Windows XP box to Ubuntu. Currently,
she connects to the Internet via a cable modem and dialer software in
Windows. I contacted the ISP but they don't know what the L word
means. When I tell them I'm running Linux (or Ubuntu) they insist on
knowing what version of Windows it's running under before helping at
all. As she's got another 8 months on her contract with them,
switching ISP's is out of the question.
What program can connect to a cable modem and dial? She has this information:
1) host name
2) user name
3) password
4) L2TP
The modem is a Motorola SB5101 SURFboard Cable Modem. Her ISP has only
Hebrew and Russian homepages, and neither work well in Firefox:

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
