Hello Tomoki,

The location on the BitDefender servers is changed. Also, this Linux
free tool is now called "BitDefender Scanner".

The HowTo you pointed to is indeed outdated. I'll check and see if I'm
able to edit it with my LaunchPad account.

Here's what you need to do:

You need to have wget installed on your system:

sudo aptitude install wget

And now you need to get the BitDefender-Scanner from its new location:

wget http://download.bitdefender.com/SMB/Workstation_Security_and_Management/BitDefender_Antivirus_Scanner_for_Unices/Unix/Current/EN/Version_7.x/Linux/BitDefender-scanner-7.5-4.linux-gcc3x.i586.deb.run

Notice BitDefender now changed the package format - it's not a simple
.deb you need to install with dpkg, it's a .run file, namely a "kit"
that you... "run". First, make it executable:

chmod 755 BitDefender-scanner-7.5-4.linux-gcc3x.i586.deb.run

And now, install the .run:

sudo ./BitDefender-scanner-7.5-4.linux-gcc3x.i586.deb.run

You will get an EULA that you have to agree with by typing "accept"
and, after the install is finished, you'll be able to run BitDefender
Scanner from /opt/BitDefender-scanner/bin/bdscan

My suggestion is that you first try a signature update:

sudo /opt/BitDefender-scanner/bin/bdscan --update

For a brief listing of accepted commands, run

/opt/BitDefender-scanner/bin/bdscan --help

and for further reading, check out the files in
/opt/BitDefender-scanner/share/doc/

HTH,

Alex.
