Wasn't tracker - apparently I had tracker removed on that system - it's
an "out of memory" problem occuring directly after runing an ntp cron
job. From my var/log/syslog:

No special video drivers - just a standard ATI w/Intel Mboard. The issue
is probably related to a 256Mb memory chip that I added recently; the
chip is 400Mhz vs the required 333Mhz.

Anyway, see if you can spot anything in your /var/log/syslog to see if
you can detect what your system is doing. Generally the syslog will also
show the day prior to the boot.
