Segfaults in weird places after aptitude update && aptitude upgrade on clean alternate gutsy install

I can try - but if I recall from my futzing around the first time I had the
problem it'll just segfault and not complete.  I might get a minute at it
tonight.   Gotta go take my son to hockey.  I'll report back as soon as I try.
