Agreed. Maybe a debconf message could appear in an apropriate moment. Would 
you please post a bug report asking for this? 

There's still the matter of when would the apropriate time (i.e., package to 
modify) be to be resolved, buyt I'm sure devels will know how to deal with 
this.
