Here's what I have so far in way of a partition scheme:

thufir at arrakis:~$ fdisk -l
thufir at arrakis:~$
thufir at arrakis:~$ sudo fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sda: 80.0 GB, 80026361856 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9729 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x000b4a4f

   Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1   *           1        9553    76734441   83  Linux
/dev/sda2            9554        9729     1413720    5  Extended
/dev/sda5            9554        9729     1413688+  82  Linux swap /
Solaris

Disk /dev/sdb: 30.7 GB, 30750031872 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 3738 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x3e3f0126

   Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1               1        1020     8193118+   7  HPFS/NTFS
/dev/sdb2            3567        3738     1381590    5  Extended
/dev/sdb3            1021        2167     9213277+  83  Linux
/dev/sdb4            2168        3566    11237467+  83  Linux
/dev/sdb5            3567        3738     1381558+  82  Linux swap /
Solaris

Partition table entries are not in disk order
thufir at arrakis:~$

With the addendum that sda (hda?) will be made into a single partition.

sdb1         windows 2000 professional
sdb3         /
sdb4         /home
sda          extra stuff

does this seem reasonable?

thanks,

Thufir
