I think Ubuntu's object is to try to hide all command line stuff. For
example, for groups and users, there is a GUI to do that in
System->Administration.

For command line stuff, my best friend is google. Next, for insights and
tricks, my best source is Debian mailing list. Gentoo related websites
also give very thorough and detailed information regarding all Linux
related stuff.
