Low display-resolution on ThinkPad i1200

Hello all,

it's not possible, to change resolution greater to 800x600.

Inside my ThinkPad there is a SMI LynxEM+ graphic with 2MB RAM.
The interface PCI 2.1 use PCI ID: 126f:0712.
The chipset is SM712G.

Please help me to solve this problem, it's the last I have with ubuntu.
All other tasks run very good.
