Defragging Windows

Hi everyone.
As long as someone brought it up... why don't we have to defragment Linux or
Ubuntu? I know that we don't have to, otherwise there would be a program for
doing it, but why don't we have to?
It is, of course, just one more thing to love about Ubuntu... and just one
more reason I switched from Windows to Ubuntu... I just don't know why it's
so unnecessary.
