Archive Manager

Hello,

I am having trouble with Archive Manager in Ubuntu 8.04. I have an 
archive of the .gz type which I cannot add files to or update the 
contents of. The Add Files button remains grayed out at all times when I 
have this archive open. I have previously use the Add button to update a 
file of the type .zip, but this .gz file will not enable the Add button 
or Add on the Edit menu.

I tried changing the permissions on the file to read and write for 
myself as user, and my group, but it still will not allow me to update 
this archive.

Anybody got a clue for me?
