I think the explanation of the wrong wireless network makes sense. If 
network manager is still installed, it may have undone your static setup 
and used DHCP on the other network. How did you do the manual setup for 
the wireless part? Can you post your /etc/network/interfaces file?

To find out which wireless network you are using, click on the nm-applet 
icon (2 computers). There you should see the wireless networks. Each 
network has a bar for the signal level and the network name on the right 
of the bar. On the left of the bar there should be an x in the line of 
the network which is used.
