Are we still talking about Ubuntu here? If so, you don't need to do any
manual download. You just go to the menu "Applications" on your top
panel and click "Add/Remove ...". Search for "thunderbird" and when it
is displayed select the box next to it. Also select any extensions you
might want. Then click the "Apply Changes" button in the bottom right
corner of the window.
