2 cents, but my experience is that they respond quickly, but were not
able to solve my printer problem. This was after repeated follow-up
where eventually I ended up with yet a another person who pulled me back
to square one again. Its almost like they couldn't read the mail
containing error messages.

Well, YMMV as they say. My experience was good and positive. I do agree that their Japanese Tech Support people have a little trouble comprehending American speak but so do Americans. And they do speak better English that I do Japanese-:)) In my case I was able to clarify any misunderstood or ignored points with a simple reply calling attention to them. That did it for me anyway. I was using the drivers located on their site to install 32 bit drivers for a 64 bit system. Was that what you were doing also or where you using the Ubuntu provided cups drivers? Just curious. If you have a 32 bit system and the drivers on their site are suitable for your model, you should be able to install with dpkg -i and not use the --force option, IMO. I think there is also an USA tech support site that may be more helpful to you but, I haven't visited it yet or tried to locate it. Have you posted your issue on the list if it was Ubuntu or cups related. I would be
interested in your problem and would help if I could.
