To answer you question.  Yes, somewhat. Mario and Derek came down pretty hard on this and largely because I said Brother was an excellent linux, or great linux, supporter and they made their points. Actually, I'm not that leary of using the force option in this case but just wanted to know if there is some alternative way such as using some ns*wrapper file to do it without using the force option. If there were such a thing I would use it rather than take a potentially unsafe way. Even if I don't always agree, I'm at the mercy of what the list tells me because there's so much I don't understand about Linux.
