Which digital camera works best with Ubuntu

Most should not have a problem. If you can find out which modes your
prospective camera supports (most either have a PTP mode, or a mode
that can be used to mount the camera device as a solid-state disk).
Most newer cameras should support both modes, although there are some
that only support PTP which means that the camera cannot be mounted
like a regular disk. Still, using gphoto or other software will often
result in a working setup with your camera and Ubuntu.

Or, you can purchase an inexpensive multi card reader (which is what I
do) and then just pop the camera memory card in when you want to grab
photos off of the camera.

PS My camera is a few years old - Kodak EasyShare 4.1 megapixel C310.
