Karl,

KVM, not KDE.

A KVM switch is a hardware device that allows the use of two or more 
computers from one Keyboard, Video monitor, and Mouse.
I shouldn't have assumed that everyone knew what they were.

Mine is the simplest/cheapest (~$25) version, just a Y-cable set that 
allows you to switch between 2 computers by double-clicking the Scroll 
Lock key. It's very handy to have if you fix computers for family and 
friends.
