    Well it sounds like you have a nVidia video system and you need to 
get the non-ubuntu driver installed. To check for sure it is nVidia in a 
terminal type lspci and it will list all your system.

    You need then to use the Sympatic File Manager and get the nVidia 
software. This should fix the problem.
