memory reported less than installed

When you buy 1Gbyte of memory you get 1000 Megabytes. Some programs
define a GByte of memory as 1024Mbytes. Thus these programs would show a
shortfall of about 2%, i.e. 2 Gbytes (2000Mbytes) would show as 1.96
Gbytes or thereabouts.

differed.
