Compaq c500 wireless setup for 8.04 (hardy heron)

Hi.  I'm new to Ubuntu, having used Windows my whole life.  I just installed
version 8.04 on my Compaq Presario c500 laptop, and cannot get the wireless
card to work.  Has anybody had a similar issue, and have any recommendations
to fix this?  Thanks.
