By printer/usb adapter, so you mean the usb-to-serial adaptor that you
purchased for the Star printer? If so, does the printer work on the XP
machine with that adapter?  (sorry if you'd answered this previously...
there has been a bit of cruft on the list lately & I can't recall if you
did or not).
