re-converting ubuntu server edition

you did all this work ... man i would get a snapshot of my operating system
using clonezilla (a guaranteed solution for disk imaging) & re-install from
scratch & try to get my server back with my applications .... if i can't
make it happen i would restore my image in 30 minutes with clonezilla (over
100Mb ethernet). give it a shot.
