Hello, 

I bought an HP multifunction C4385, it prints out of the box on xubuntu
7.10 and I then installed the hplip software from
http://hplip.sourceforge.net/downloads.html
and now scanning and printing work perfectly.

I haven't tried the wireless print/scan feature but apparently it too
works with the hplip software, also this unit has a card reader (several
actually)

The printer/scanner cost about $140 CDN and an extra color and bw ink pack was
about $40 CDN. I am pretty happy overall.
