I've heard similar, but I've only got PPC macs knocking around. If you get a go on one, I'd be interested to hear how much nicer it is.

No, I know. On a desktop system where I do want more powerful graphics, I'd get an NVidia card. But, being a desktop, there's more scope for getting the particular one that performs best under Linux.
