I don't see any "?" in the above so it isn't clear what you are asking.  At 
least not to me.

Are you asking if there is command line interface to maintain the smb.conf 
file?  Or are you asking for a GUI other than SWAT?  Or are you asking for 
help in determining why SWAT doesn't seem to work.  (You didn't give any 
details.)

FWIW, SWAT is one tool that I use to maintain smb.conf.  The other is vi.
