RAM overheating

Qiuli, first check your ventilation. Is the front and rear vents clear? Is their 
dust building up on them? You have to have air flow through your system.

Second, look at your cables. Can air flow easily through the system? If air is 
blocked by cables, esp hard drive cables, things can get hot.

Unless you have a really old system I don't think you can put the ram in 
incorrectly. How much ram do you show you are running right now? If you have 1GB 
installed and you have access to 1GB then its working.

It might be a bad stick of ram though.
