Newbe gnome user, where are the libs etc in add / remove ?

Hi all,

Long long term KDE user giving gnome a spin with a stupid question :)

booted add/remove applications, selected 'all' & 'all available
applications' the list seems to be heavily filtered which is OK but
how do i get an unfiltered list so I can see for example the
'python-gtk2' when I search for 'python'. At the moment I am booting a
term and 'apt-get install ...'
