Not everything works with Linux, although the situation is continuously
improving.
Among the companies that support Linux is HP (Hewlett-Packard). I think
all of its products are supported by Linux (more accurately they support
their products for Linux). So I have my HP scanner and HP printer
working out of the box.
Regarding graphics cards, NVIDIA provides Linux support too.
I am not sure if your printer is supported by Ubuntu. Have you checked
the web if there is any Linux support for your printer?

Ioannis:
I have checked online. The Linux site says the Z31 Lexmark works (mostly).
It only lists one driver and that is the driver that Ubuntu lists for use
with the Z31. All other drivers are obsolete. The printer is probably +10
years old. I will keep it for the Windows side. I will get an HP for the
Ubuntu printing. I do not to do Ubuntu printing yet. Do you know how far
back HP supports Linux?
