nVidia and Hardy and everything

I received my new motherboard and was planning to install it today.
But for some reason now the nVidia board seems to be fine on 7.1 so I
booted up in Hardy without any updates yet. I was sure it would crash
like it always has. But I find that after getting Thunderbird which came
right up since I'm on the same /home/karl I use with 7.10.
So I am writing this on Hardy and it will go out normal and I have a
lot of setup to do but it looks good so far.
Now I have all the covers off my computer. I am wondering now if the
bad nVidia problem is in fact just a heating problem? There is a heat
sink on the board that is for the video hardware.
