New Motherboard

I have had no success with the motherboard I now have with lots
of nVidia hardware. It has been prone to sudden crashes at just the
wrong time. I asked and got plenty of Ubuntu guys tell me they have
nVidia motherboards and they work fine! So it appears my board is
somehow bad.
So I decided to get a whole new motherboard and wound up with a
Gigibyte GA-MA78GM-S2H AM2 AMD ... that should let me put my current AMD
CPU and 2 GB of Ram onto the new board. It is plenty fast for this old
man and cost $100.00 at Newegg.
As it looks now I should find the Internet will come from the
new board, with no changes. The sound should not take any work to be
good. But the ATI video driver will be just like the nVidia hardware.
You must have a proper driver or it will not work. I have
"ati-driver-installer-8-3-x86.86_64.run" which I got from the ATI web
page. It will be I think just like the nVidia GOOD driver that caused my
computer to crash almost every time I turned on Firefox.
If the ATI motherboard has the same problem I will give up on
computers :-)
