From what you there tells me, it appears that you have ubuntu partly
installed. The boot list you talk about is the first step in the rigt
direction. It might be that the time to respond is set very short, but
if you for example hit the Esc key as soon as you see this boot list
appear, then you have all the time in the world to study the list and
make your choice.
Please select the Ubuntu boot from the list and describe what you see
when it is booted. This will help the fellows on this list to suggest
the best action.
