Firestarter service fails to start

OS: Ubuntu 7.10 x86.


I removed the splash option from the kernel line in the grub
configuration file, and during boot I saw a message that Firestarter
service fails to start.


How can I fix this? Also I couldn't find the error message in
System::Administration::System Log. Where are these messages stored?
