PDF vs Printers

I'm not quite sure if this one will help: did you set a preferred 
printer for the system ? Sitting in front of a german Ubuntu I may fail 
to translate correctly but I give it a try anyway:
in menu system/system settings/printing select your printer and on the 
settings-tab click "make default".
