gutsy no longer booting into gnome

Edward,
I ran sudo init 5 then rebooted.
I still got booted into the console not the graphical interface.

It is not a big deal because I can always type startx to get into the
graphical interface, just annoying not to know how I broke it and how to
fix it :-)
