No response to this so far.... <grimace>

But, after much harranging and scrapping with this, I DID apparently get
Ubuntu (Gutsy) onto the drive in my old e-Machine. (the 'e' stands for
evil)

As it was starting, the grub started and the "Starting up ... " came up
with two apparent errors. They are:

    1. invalid compressed format (err=1)
    2. Kernal panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on
unknown wn-block(0,0)

The second, third, and fourth times the errors were:
    1. "crc error"
    2. Kernal panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on
unknown wn-block(0,0)

Any ideas on how to mount this and run the system???

Joseph
