No...it's running as a daemon.  If you list the processes you'll see it 
running.  You might want to tune your configuration 
(/etc/denyhosts/denyhosts.conf) to suit your particular tastes and do a 
sudo /etc/rc.d/init.d/denyhosts restart.  I configured it to download 
(and upload) lists to share bans and it REALLY populated the deny list, 
so I was happy to share what virus-infected and script kiddie IPs I 
harvested after I whitelisted an IP I often used to log in from.
