Not yet. In order to test properly I need access to a remote machine. My
test machines are being used right now, so I can't mess with them for a
few more days. However, I have such a machine at a relatives house (DSL
line) that I can access via krdc (VNC) to set up. Once he returns home
(this weekend) I plan to install kvpnc & racoon on his machine then set
up a VPN back into my BEFVP41. That way I can monitor the connection &
logs to see from both sides at the same time.

Regarding the authentication question: no, no problem at all. Kvpnc is
in universe & racoon is in the standard repo. So if you've set up your
sources properly you shouldn't have any problems with authentication.
