If I'm reading the solution correctly, this is a boot-issue, isn't it?

The system I'm working on is booting, and everything *seems* to be 
running okay, but the throughput from the disk appears very slow.  I 
don't know if it's something with the controller, exactly, but hdparm is 
apparently of little use with the PERC.  Did my symptoms sound like what 
you were running into on your PERC controllers?
