php module for apache not working

The PHP was not working for me (it tried to download the .php file), so 
I looked on the wiki and found the page I mentioned.  I simply went 
through the steps for installing Apache and for Installing PHP5, making 
sure I had everything it stated installed.  I did get an error similar 
to yours when starting the Apache2 server, so I made sure to stop the 
Apache1 server I had running and then used the start command the wiki 
mentioned for Apache2.  I did the '<?php phpinfo(); ?>' and it worked 
perfectly.
