RAID HOWTOs

I got RAID 1 working on my Asus P4P800 Deluxe using this link:

HYPERLINK
"http://currents.soest.hawaii.edu/uhdas_fromships/oceanus_atseaweb/programs/
adcp_doc/ubuntu_docs/thirdparty_html/ubuntu_raid.html"http://currents.soest.
hawaii.edu/uhdas_fromships/oceanus_atseaweb/programs/adcp_doc/ubuntu_docs/th
irdparty_html/ubuntu_raid.html

I turned the motherboard’s RAID off completely and used two identical SATA
disks as plain sda, sdb.

md is a software RAID implementation. You partition the two disks
identically and assign them to the array during the install procedure. I
tried Ubuntu 7.04 server and alternate and they both worked fine.

SATA disks don’t have jumpers as far as I know.

Thanks for the link.

1) It says that I need to configure BIOS for the use of RAID, but AMI BIOS
that I have doesn't have that feature. Would this be okay?

2) How do I set HDD jumper for the HDDs? I have two SATA HDD to configure.

dapper but it should still be same procedure. Its only software raid no
matter how you do with these controllers.
