streaming in Firefox

Hello!
I've got a problem with Firefox: It can't play streaming videos. I
have installed all the plug-ins and codecs as listed here
http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Feisty#Streaming_in_FireFox

but when, for example, I try to play videos from
http://tvuol.uol.com.br/cinema/trailers/2007/08/29/halloween.jhtm

nothing happens.

I also would like to remove two links from the Desktop (hda1 and
hda5). It seems they belong to the root user.
Any help appreciated.
