Evolution or Thunderbird

I heard that Thunderbird is no longer supported by Mozilla. Is this
true? Can I still use it? Or should I switch to Evolution?

My laptop is running Feisty Fawn and Thunderbird. My desktop is running
Gutsy Gibbon and Evolution. 

Evolution gets my mail which is good. However, filtering doesn't work.
Or maybe it's a user error on my part. Here's what happens. 
      * Created several filters based on "mailing list" 
      * select all the messages in the inbox
      * Ctrl+y to filter the messages into folder
      * New messages with filters are left in the inbox

Why are new messages left in the inbox? Shouldn't they get filter into
the appropriate folder? I hope there is a fix for this.

NOTE
Having trouble writing this email. Had trouble finding spell check,
bullet list format etc... These buttons need to be placed in easy to
click locations.

I think Thunderbird is better.
