Installation Assistance (Multiple CD Verification Failures)

So.... I just wanted to close the loop on this should anyone else run into
similar installation problems.
Essentially, I never did figure out what was causing the failure. The
memory tests were successful, which left the CD drive as the only logical
point of failure. Rather than going through the trouble of ordering a new
drive, or trying to swap in a different drive from one of the other
PowerEdges (as there were no spare connectors available on the motherboard),
I proceeded with a PXE installation using another Ubuntu server. Worked
like a charm. In fact, I like this approach better because it doesn't ask
me to insert the "feisty" CD when trying to install a package.
In any case, I followed the instructions here:
http://wiki.koeln.ccc.de/index.php?title=Ubuntu_PXE_Install
Not sure who wrote this up, but if you're on this distribution list....
THANK YOU!
Chris

Thanks Rashkae. I will try that and send a follow up message.
Best,
Chris

Open the case, plug in a standard Cd-rom with Ubuntu CD, leave it
hanging out, install OS, remove CD-rom, continue on as though nothing
happened.
Unless you installed Windows from a *burned* cd, that doesn't rule out
the CD-rom at all. (in fact, since that proves your memory is probably
all right, all signs point right to that.)
