If you can log in via ssh from one machine to the other, and require
only lightweight access, consider sshfs. I think it works out of the box
in feisty: Places->Connect to Server then select server type SSH, type
in the name or address of the other machine in the "Server" field, the
full directory path you want to see in "Folder", and your username on
the other machine in the "User Name" field. Hit connect. A filesystem
icon will appear on your desktop, click it to open. At some point you'll
be asked for a password.
